WOW! What a first ride, the auto clutch stuck and I was off to the races, at night and into a busy street. THANK YOU GOD! My bad! All that was needed was a quick adjustment and all is well, except for one thing it is now 12 midnight and the scheduled pick-up is 8am this morning. I did not have enough time to get to know the bike because it is a jockey shift and hydraulic foot clutch. I notified S&S that I need a huge patch of asphalt to practice on before we part on the 12o mile journey and all Howard Kelly had to tell me was “We got you covered. Just come and have fun” so people please keep the positive waves, prayers, energies, Karma, starbucks add shots, and everything and anything that is good in your life going strong and moving forward, even if you are a little scared to ride this bike, like I am. Anyway please wish me luck and I will talk with you next month peace/d

Today is the day the S&S bike gets fired up. I have only the throttle cable and oil lines to run and then its off for the maiden voyage. They are scheduled to pick up the bike on thursday to truck it to LaCrosse and I am flying out on the 24th to begin the ceremony. Please keep your fingers crossed and say a little prayer for the trip and the bike. We have to trek on a 120 mile journey once the event is under way on the newly built bikes and I sincerely wish every builder a trouble free trip. See you all soon and again thank you for your kind thoughts peace to you /d

What a stroke of genius, or sort of, I am finishing the final details of the bike today! I will begin pulling the bike a part tonight to get ready for the paint shop on monday night and my artist will arrive on wednesday to commence the airbrushing on the murals. It will be a couple of all nighters but everything is coming together, which in it of itself is a miracle, considering all the obstacles I have had to overcome peace /d

The S&S bike will be heading off to the first series of finishes this saturday. I am trying some new experimental approach with some new paints and ideas I hope will work out. Oh hell they will work out period! All the one-off parts are turning out quite nicely and I am beginning to feel the long nights and early mornings on myself. Yeah for starbucks and of course my lovely wife who always seems to come up with the right things to say and get me going again. I am really excited about this whole chapter in my life and to be honest with you all a bit scared. Well back to the shop, I’ve got some last minute welding to tend to…peace/d

I was invited to participate in the Artistry in Iron master builders championship at the 5th annual Las vegas bikefest Oct. 2-5 ,what an honor, I was so excited to get the news that all the financial hassles I have been going through with the S&S build just became baby hassles. I want to thank Pam Schwartz and Harry Schwartz at Full Throttle events for this chance to participate. It has been a blast working with them on other projects and look forward to working with this great outfit again. Please make it a point to go to vegas this October and check out the bikefest, great town, great events through out the week and extremely well organized. I am not just licking boots it is the truth! Believe me, some organizers could take lessons from these guys. See you in Vegas people peace/d

Literally, they have been a very scarce source around these parts or at least at my shop. The financial burdens are very difficult to forget and that makes it very hard sometimes to work on this bike. I have an obligation to S&S and myself to finish the bike and I will, listen I don’t feel sorry for myself its just the truth this is how I feel so please keep cheering me on or pray for me or toss some salt over your shoulders or just get shit faced in my honor either way what else am I going to do? Thanks people peace/d

Popped up from a deep sleep sunday night with the thought about the P-series S&S engine not fitting in my frame. Now I know maybe I should have test fitted the engine before all the other fabrication was built and welded to the frame but you can only think about one thing at a time. Eureka! the fit was not only perfect but the new engine actually makes the bike look very moxy. I am really having to rediscover myself because of all the pressures this event has brought to me personally but I think it will all work out in the end. I appreciate you all rooting for me and do not take it for granted. Where’s all the love, Steve D ? see you later peace /d

Last night I finished off welding the handlebars and headlight shell for the S&S bike. I went with a classic 70’s dirt bike looking handlebar with a twist of DAViDAnTHONY. The headlight reflex a distant resemblance to the 30/40’s automotive era. The wheels came in and WOW! Thank you Sam @ Ride Wright Wheels, these wheels are moxy and the tempo has been set for the ensuing rush to LaCrosse. Keep those positive thoughts coming in and thank you for your support. ” I just want to be free to build and not be hassled by the man”…peace /d

Late last night I finished the S&S tank and the bar has been rendered useless, the scale cannot measure but only the mind will get it. I just emailed my painter the pixzillas so he can begin to create the images. I must have the bike completely fabricated by the end of march and off to the body shop. I am beginning to feel the anxiety creeping in but at the same time to be a part of this historic celebration in a contributory way has given me the biggest natural energy boost that I haven’t felt since I was picking up Susan Evans for a first date in the 9th grade. Anyway I hope she is as happy as I am today. Peace david
